It is an insurance policy that guarantees a financial benefit if you are unable to work due to an illness or accident. It protects you while you're on sick leave and helps you maintain your regular income.
The amount you receive depends on the insured capital that you choose when taking out the policy.
Temporary disability: compensates you for lost income if you are unable to work due to an illness or accident.
Hospitalisation: you receive a daily amount from the first 24 hours, up to a maximum of 365 days.
Total permanent disability: protects you if an illness or accident prevents you from working permanently.
Medical assistance following an accident: covers medical care if the accident is included in the policy.
The contract is annual and is automatically renewed each year. You can pay the premium monthly, quarterly, or half-yearly, with a small surcharge for splitting the payment.
If you change jobs or activity, you must report this as soon as possible. This way we can recalculate your premium according to the new risk level from your job.
This can result in a price increase or decrease, and avoid problems if you have to process a claim.
The cover begins when you sign the contract and pay the first bill. It ends on the date indicated in your specific terms and conditions, although it is renewed annually unless you or the insurer decide otherwise.
It also ends if:
You reach 70 years of age (or 65 for total permanent disability cover).
You become permanently disabled or incapacitated.
You retire, become unemployed or cease your professional activity.
