What is the duration of a health insurance policy?

The duration of the contract is stipulated in the policy. It is annual and can be renewed by calendar years. The contract is renewed automatically every year without requiring confirmation.

However, both you and DKV can cancel the contract before the maturity date, provided that demonstrable notification has been given to the other party. One month’s notice is required for the policyholder and two months for DKV.

However, as a differential value proposal on the market, we commit to not cancelling the policy of insured persons with an individual modality that have remained in the policy for three consecutive years. Therefore, it will be a lifelong policy after the third year.

Where can I see the affiliated clinics?

When you take out health insurance, the medical directory is the most valuable benefit: having close the centres you need to visit and being able to go to a medical specialist whenever you need it.

At DKV, we have more than 51,000 affiliated professionals and 1,000 affiliated medical centres available throughout Spain. Avoid waiting lists and lengthy paperwork. We offer the professionalism of the most convenient and fastest healthcare, while you choose whatever you need at any time.

When you become insured, you will also be able to do so from the Quiero cuidarme Más app, which in addition to providing you with solutions to take care of your health wherever you are, you will be able to easily access the medical directory.

Physiotherapy, do I need to go to the specialist first?

Yes, before attending physiotherapy sessions, you will first have to go to a specialist in traumatology, neurology, rheumatology or a rehabilitating doctor, who will prescribe the sessions.

How have the psychology sessions been set?

Insurance companies generally set a maximum limit of sessions per insured person per year. At DKV, we have one of the widest contracting age limits on the market. Further information

How can I request the GP home service?

With DKV insurance, you can request a home service when, due to the condition of the ill person, going to a consultation or hospital centre is not advisable from a medical point of view.

Also, home visits from a nursing assistant are possible if prescribed by a doctor from the corresponding DKV Network of Healthcare Services, according to the modality contracted.

A prior written prescription from the doctor attending the insured person is required beforehand.

How and how much does the insurance go up every year?

With each insurance contract renewal, at 31 December, the company may modify the annual premium and the costs for medical acts taking as a base the technical actuarial calculations.
 

The premium for each insured person is calculated according to the following objective risk factors: age and geographical place of residence, in addition to other factors that affect the calculation, such as increases in health care costs and medical technology innovations that are incorporated into the insurance cover.
 

In the case of collective policies, the result of the group and the number of layers of premiums applied will also be taken into account in the renewal of contracts. 

In any case, the rates that DKV Seguros has in place on the renewal date shall apply. Besides the case indicated in the previous paragraph, the premiums due may also vary depending on the age and other personal circumstances of the insured persons.

Request card or policy duplicate

You can request a duplicate of a damaged or lost card through any of the following channels, even if you need it urgently:

Request an insurance or travel assistance certificate

You can do so via the Activa DKV app.

  1. Go to your profile's icon. Once there, in the "INSURANCE INFORMATION" section, select the "Your policy's certificates" option.

  2. Select the policy for which you want to receive the certificate and click on "Travel assistance".  

  3. Now, you just have to specify whom the certificate is for and add your travel dates. 

  4. You will receive your travel assistance certificate in your email inbox.
