Marina Núñez
In her work she represents different, aberrant, monstrous beings that exist on the margin of or against the canon. The abnormal bodies that populate her pictures, images or videos transmit a metamorphic, hybrid, multiple identity. She recreates a destabilised and impure subjectivity for which otherness is not something foreign, but basically constitutes the human being.
She has held solo exhibitions in public centres, such as Espacio Uno del Reina Sofía, La Gallera, Pilar y Joan Miró Foundation, Casa de América and Instituto Cervantes.
In relation to group exhibitions, the following stand out: Kulturnea, Miró Foundation, Espai d´Art Contemporani de Castelló, Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes, Antichi Granai della Giudecca, Palazzo Riso, and MOCA Museum of Contemporary Art, among others.
Her work has been included in collections of several institutions, including Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, Artium in Vitoria, MUSAC in León, Patio Herreriano in Valladolid, Panera in Lleida, TEA in Tenerife, CAAM in Las Palmas, Es Baluard in Palma de Mallorca, Fundación La Caixa, Fundación Botín, MAC in La Coruña, CAB in Burgos, FRAC Corse, and American University in Washington DC, among others.
She currently lives between Madrid and Pontevedra, and is a professor at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Vigo.
