Environment
As a socially responsible company specialising in health, DKV is constantly concerned about sustainable growth by integrating environmental, energy saving and efficiency criteria.
ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY AND MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
Environmental protection is one of the aspects of DKV's sustainability programme, which is part of the company's own strategy and has been materialised as the company's environmental and energy policy. In spite of the insurance sector's activity not having a high environmental impact, DKV's management in its commitment towards continuous improvement, pollution prevention and the fight against climate change, has defined this policy as a key element of its management system, with the fulfilment of the following principles as its main premise:
1. Complying with environmental and energy legislation.
2. Preventing pollution through environmental protection measures.
3. Incorporating a management model aimed at minimising environmental impacts.
4. Collaborating in environmental and energy improvement projects.
5. Implementing this policy as a benchmark for establishing environmental and energy management programmes.
6. Raising awareness among employees.
7. Disseminating this environmental and energy policy among all stakeholders (customers, suppliers, collaborators, etc.)
8. Promoting research on the impact of the environment on health.

Climate change
Since its inception, DKV has focused its environmental policy on climate change, mainly for two reasons: The first is that climate change has short-, medium- and, above all, long-term consequences for DKV's business, as it has an effect on people's health. The second, that it also has a strong impact on the heart of the shareholders' business, among other reasons as a result of the further frequency of extreme weather events and their economic impact.
The new strategic project "Planeta Salud" was launched in 2020, and with it, DKV is taking a step forward in the fight against climate change.

Environmental initiatives with our stakeholders
DKV firmly believes that a company's responsible activity goes far beyond its internal policy of saving energy or paper expenditure, consequently, it implements initiatives to engage its stakeholders and raise their awareness:

The use of online apps and procedures is promoted to avoid travel and thus reduce the carbon footprint.
